Meet Dr. Rhonda Parker, DNP, APRN, FNP-C, PMHNP-BC, CARN-NP
I didn't come to this work from a textbook.
I came to it from 24 years of watching women be failed by every system that was supposed to help them — and from living that experience myself.
I grew up in West Virginia, the kind of place that teaches you early that you'll have to fight for everything you want. I learned that lesson well. I spent the first decade of my career as a registered nurse, then went back to school for my Family Nurse Practitioner degree, then for my Doctor of Nursing Practice, then for my Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner certification. I have never stopped learning because the women I serve deserve a provider who never stops.
Along the way I built and ran my own mobile mental health practice in South Carolina, launched a MAT addiction program from scratch, trained the next generation of psychiatric providers, and became the West Virginia State Liaison for the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. In 2024 I received the WV Nurse Practitioner Excellence Award.
But none of that is what made me who I am as a provider.
What made me was this -I have lived with autoimmune disease since my late twenties. I have navigated trauma that started in childhood and followed me into adulthood. I have pushed through things that should have broken me, shown up for everyone else while quietly falling apart inside, and sat in front of providers who looked at my chart and missed me completely.
I know what it feels like to do everything right and still not recognize the woman in the mirror.
I also know what it feels like to finally get answers. To have someone look at the whole picture -the hormones, the mental health, the nervous system, the history, the story -and say this is what's actually happening and here is the way through.
That is what I built Leona Health to be.
Not another practice that manages your symptoms and sends you home. A place that treats you as the whole, complex, worthy woman you are. Where your mental health, your hormones, and your sexual health are understood as one connected system- because they are.
I have spent the last several years completing advanced training in women's sexual health through ISSM, ISSWSH, and the Buehler Institute, in addition to my certifications in functional medicine, psychedelic medicine, and addiction care. I bring all of it to every patient I see.
I am licensed to practice in West Virginia, Virginia, Colorado, and Minnesota.
I created Leona Health for the woman who has been told she's fine when she knows she isn't. For the woman who has tried everything and is still searching. For the woman who looks in the mirror and doesn't recognize herself anymore.
I have been her. And I know the way out.
She showed up for everyone. Now we show up for her.
